I've only visited Iceland once so far – in June this year – but will also be there in a couple of weeks. And everyone I've met there has been friendly and pleasant. Last month though the UK Government used the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 to effectively allege that Icelanders were terrorists in order to safeguard / steal / acquire / retain † the funds of the Icelandic banks in their UK subsidiaries. I know plenty of my UK friends think this is overkill and an unacceptable slur on the Icelanders – even if their Government has reneged on a contract – and I personally have apologised to Icelandic friends.
Today I was pointed at a website – www.indefence.is – where an on-line petition to UK PM Brown is being created. Give them your support!
